I started my career as an actor on stage and screen, specialising in dance and movement, before moving behind the lens and completing an MA in Cinematography at Goldsmiths, University of London. A foundation that shapes a cinematography practice that’s attentive to movement, rhythm and how performers inhabit space.
As a cinematographer, I’ve worked on numerous award-winning shorts, documentaries, commercials, music videos, narrative features and series. In 2023, I received a SAFTA nomination for “Best Documentary Short” for Tribe, which I filmed and directed.
My work has screened internationally at major festivals, including Hot Docs, BFI Flare, Encounters, Cinéma du Reél, Nashville Film Festival and DIFF. I’ve created content for HBO, Showmax, Warner Brothers, SABC, Canal+ and Silwerskerm. I am a member of the International Collective of Female Cinematographers (ICFC), the Primetime Network, as well as BAFTA Connect.
I’m drawn to inclusive stories that are layered and explore complexity. My focus is on images that support performance, tone and the people at the centre of each project.
Curious by nature and an avid traveller, I’ve worked across diverse locations: from Scottish border towns, the Zambian Copperbelt and Azerbaijani highlands, to the Senegalese desert and the rolling hills of the Eastern Cape in my native South Africa. Working across these varied environments has made me adaptable and attuned to the dynamics of different locations and crews.
I speak English, German, French and Afrikaans and am based both in London and Cape Town. I have an EU and a South African passport, as well as ILR in the UK, making international collaboration easy.
